Technical Service Manager (Finance)

Job Summary:

As the Technical Service Manager, you will be providing technical support and service to the service team and Prestolite Power customers. This will include detailed technical conversations to help the team and customers with issues. This will be a challenging role, which demands a high level of understanding of high frequency industrial battery charger technology, ensuring superior Client Service is a priority for all involved in the service team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively maintain and update all technical services tracking information and databases to support superior technical expertise within the service team.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting issues with control circuits of switch mode power sources ranging from 5kW to 30kW moving these designs from concept to production. Responsibilities will also include embedded software development for power electronics control circuits.
  • Creating a team environment where the service team can be successful. This includes holding team members accountable where necessary and fostering a healthy team spirit.
  • Performing disciplinary action when needed according to HR guidelines.
  • Creating a safety culture that complies with all regulatory requirements and promotes personal accountability within the team. A target of zero accidents and incidents.
  • Responsible for the hiring of new support team members where required.
  • You will provide technical support to our customer service, sales, and marketing workforce.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings.
  • Liaising with clients.
  • Liaising with R&D department and factory.
  • Develop and implement strategies that will achieve organizational goals and create streamlined processes.
  • Organizing own travel arrangements through corporate portal.
  • Any other duties that will be required to help ensure the service team is successful.
  • Review trends in warranty expenses and help guide efforts to lower warranty costs.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology; or Military equivalence, an MSEE is a plus. Relevant experience will also be considered.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, coaching and employee development skills.
  • A solid understanding of high frequency industrial battery chargers
  • General knowledge of the design of switch mode power, high frequency power magnetics, analog and digital circuits.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities and able to operate successfully in a medium sized organization.
  • A strong knowledge of safety and all of the industry regulations involved.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in battery chargers or similar field. Experience should include preventive maintenance, commissioning new systems and repair and associated equipment. Strong AC/DC power electronics and application skills. Familiarity with industrial networking equipment. Strong understanding of multimeters and oscilloscopes is a plus. It is essential that the candidate can read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Experience in managing a successful service team is highly desirable.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

This position is located in Troy Ohio. Troy will keep you entertained all year. During the warmer months, Troy hosts food and music festivals, organizes art walks, and provides plenty of beautiful spots for hiking and biking, take a stroll through the Historic District, Troy Aqua Park and Treasure Island Park.
