Aircraft Mechanic II (Avionics) (Maintenance)
About the role
PKL Services will be providing contractor Organizational Level (O-Level) maintenance in support to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW) squadrons on both Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA, and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA.
The Aircraft Mechanic II (Avionics) performs scheduled/unscheduled Organizational Level maintenance on MV-22B aircraft. This technician must have a combination of experience to diagnose or repair avionics systems of a difficulty level deemed moderate to complex.
Additional duties include:
Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft communication and navigation systems, video display systems, flight instrumental, mission computer systems, electro-optical viewing systems (EVS), inertial navigation systems. Install, remove, replace, service, adjust and troubleshoot weapon systems to include electronic countermeasure and airborne secure voice communications equipment. Removes, installs, checks avionics systems and line replaceable units (LRU). Must have the ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical discrepancies down to the component level. Inspect, repair and modify all airframe related wiring. Assists in the aircraft launch and recovery cycles in support of the daily flight schedule. Corrosion prevention and treatment on squadron aircraft. Acts as a qualified director, walker or brake rider in the towing of aircraft. Ensuring that proper safety procedures and precautions are followed on the flight line and in hanger deck areas. The licensed operation of support equipment to facilitate on and off aircraft maintenance. Accurately documenting all accomplished maintenance via Nalcomis/OOMA automated system. Responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts. Any and all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Site Manager.

High School Diploma or equivalent. May require a minimum of three (3) years USN/USMC/USAF Organizational level aircraft maintenance experience for the V-22 aircraft to meet established experience thresholds. The candidate must have completed a Navy Class A school for Aviation Electricians or Aviation Electronics Technicians, or USMC/USAF equivalent and a Navy Class C school in electrical or electronics repair. Must be able to draw, load, and maintain physical security of all associated Communications Security (COMSEC) equipment for the position-specific T/M/S aircraft. Past experience in troubleshooting and repairing avionics related systems to the V-22 series aircraft. Within 90 days of hiring, applicants will be required to have the technical ability to qualify as a MV-22 Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI). Within 90 days of hiring, must be proficient with NALCOMIS OOMA automated maintenance documentation system. Must be familiar with all Avionics work center O level publications relevant to the maintenance of the Type Model Series aircraft appropriate to the assignment and have a thorough practical and theoretical knowledge of the equipment/systems. Must possess the ability to perform all avionics work center designated tasks as outlined in the Interactive Electronic Maintenance Manual (IETM). Will possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel, including the ability to express thoughts in both oral and written communications.
Working knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2 (NAMP), Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedures (NAMSOPs) and local NAMPSOP instructions. Experience in the use and care of power tools, testing equipment and precision measuring devices in the maintenance and repair of aircraft. This position will require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. Must possess a valid state drivers license.

This is a full time/ non-exempt/ union position. $43.13 hour $533.60 per pay period as a Health & Welfare benefit. $75.00 employer contribution each month towards the Machinist Custom Choice Benefits. The company sponsors group medical, dental, vision, basic life paid coverage plans for the employee/family. Employee contributions required. 401k plan. Twelve (12) paid holidays per year. Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Primarily in a workshop environment but may traverse into high noise areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps. Ability to both sit and stand for long periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key). This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Normal color perception required. The noise level in the primary work environment is usually moderate. May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
