Position Title: Software Safety Engineer
Position Location: Florist Tower, 5757 N Green Bay Avenue, Glendale, WI 53209
Days / Hours: Mon – Fri / 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Summary of Duties: Provide failure mode analysis and demonstrate software safety requirements are satisfied. Create software safety requirements to show effect of possible failures, including qualitative safety analysis, dependent failure analysis, and failure mitigation measures. Create reports to demonstrate all software safety requirements are satisfied, including verification and traceability for architecture, detailed design, unit testing, integration testing, and qualification testing. Select software tools and create software tool qualification reports, to show the selection of software tools is appropriate for project safety goals. Contribute to the software development plans, to the software team change management plans and the software team configuration management plans. Supply guidelines for requirements, architecture, design, implementation, and testing. Manage work through use of configuration management and issue tracking tools. Support creation and review of software requirements, architecture, and detailed design. Execute software development and make improvements to process and infrastructure. Participate in cross-functional project planning and review events. Assess proposed features and perform impact analysis.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field of study and 5 years of progressive experience in software safety analysis for safety-critical systems.
Applicants must have demonstrated experience with:
1) 5 years of experience in embedded systems for safety-critical systems;
2) 5 years of experience hands-on programming C embedded software;
3) 5 years of experience hands-on testing and debugging C embedded software;
4) 2 years of experience developing software safety analysis documentation;
5) Presenting technical information to all levels of management;
6) Configuration management and issue tracking tools; and
7) Software requirements, architecture, and detailed design.
Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
