ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The mission of Undergraduate Studies (UGS) is to advance student inquiry and success by fostering an inclusive and supporting learning environment. UGS at USF St. Petersburg provides academic support services and partners with colleges to enhance the academic experience of students and drive degree completion goals of every student. Programs and services coordinated by Undergraduate Studies (UGS) at USF St. Petersburg includes Student Success Advocacy, the Debbie Nye Sembler Student Success Center, and academic advising for the following academic programs: Bachelor of General Studies and the Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences as well as academic majors in Exploratory Curriculum Pathways, and Leadership Studies.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Transfer Success Advocate advises students before they transfer from a Florida State college and upon transfer, serves as their success advocate to help ensure the timely completion of both an associate and baccalaureate degree. In addition, the incumbent proactively offers academic support and address goals of persistence, progression, and timely completion of degree for all transfers at USF St. Petersburg. The incumbent works individually with transfer students who may be facing barriers and provide coordinated care to connect students to campus resources and services, so they may receive the most robust support.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of curriculum at both USF and partner state colleges. Use of platforms and applications supporting advising role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advise transfer students individually and/or with groups regarding academic core and/or departmental requirements, general transfer admissions requirements, academic policies and procedures, and campus resources. Assist students with identification of long-term goals and career plans
Serve as an academic case manager for undergraduate transfer students. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve transfer student academic progress and graduation through early outreach, tracking and follow up protocols. Manage academic plans to facilitate student persistence and completion. Research and respond to student concerns, referrals, and cases. Collaborate with academic and non-academic departments to acquire and provide information in support of each student's success. Leverage targeted intervention strategies for students that exhibit behaviors and outcomes that are correlated with possible stop out or prolonged time to completion.
Resolve individual student issues that require coordination between multiple offices at the university. Assist students with understanding institutional policies and processes, reviewing available options, and resolving concerns. May assist students in major exploration and reselection when necessary. Maintain updated student records on the appropriate platforms and monitor progress of students to ensure that progression concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
Use analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills to develop and interpret reports, analyze and understand trends, and create actionable insights drawn from multiple sources to inform outreach plans, enhance persistence and completion initiatives, and focus efforts on student populations where greatest needs for support exist.
Collaborate with campus and institutional partners to generate creative ideas and develop and implement a holistic approach to support the academic experiences and success of all transfer students. Help organize and implement initiatives to enhance student knowledge and information regarding policies, systems and resources through workshops, information sessions, and other strategies.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a post baccalaureate degree in Education, Counseling or an academic field directly related to the responsibilities of the position, or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
