Assistant Vice President for Research & Institute Operations (Finance)
Position Summary
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Research & Institute Operations is responsible for the overall research operations, coordination, performance improvement, quality and compliance evaluation, human resource management, information systems, customer service, new business coordination, revenue cycle management, facilities management, practice promotion, and communications for the UTHealth Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI). Supervises the operations of HVI in developing strategic plans, policies, and recommendations. The AVP will work between the Director of the HVI, EVP/CAO, and affiliated healthcare partners on budgets, operations, research strategic plans, and facilities management. Should have progressive experience working with teams at the level of centers, institutes, and departments with an annual budget of over $100 million from mixed sources.
Position Key Accountabilities
Certification/Skills
Doctorate Degree MD (Doctor of Medicine) or PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) required
Minimum Experience
8 years of demonstrated experience in research development, grant and contract finance, and multi-departmental operational experience, including HR, finance, and operations in an academic medical center required
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
