Senior Data Analyst (Finance)
The SR Data Analyst is able to perform complete life cycle data generation and outline critical information for users. SR Data analysts will develop analysis and reporting capabilities. Analyzes business processes and procedures to recommend specific types of data that we should be using to improve upon them and to drive positive business solutions and outcomes.
Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position.
Customer Advocacy. Look at every problem and our solutions through the eyes of our business partners. Works with stakeholders to formulate scope, objectives, and key results for new business initiatives. Partners with business stakeholders and product team managers to prioritize, analyze, define and manage backlog by gathering new requests and helping with project requests as the business needs evolve. Works with business partners to understand business analytics required for strategic business decisions. Develops and maintains working relationships with business leaders/strategy owners, and advises executive roles through objective metrics of progress and recommended directional changes to current and future state. Seeks and takes action on business user feedback for delivered requests.
Effectively maintain systems, processes and datasets: Manages master data, including creation, update, and deletion. Provides Level 2 support for report and data related helpdesk tickets. Leads dynamic and interactive requirements definition sessions with stakeholders. Develops functional requirements documentation in the form of user stories, data models, data flows, process flows, and user acceptance criteria. Understands and translates the business strategy, goals, and processes into analytic solutions. Supports QA and UAT efforts. Manages requirements volatility, integrity and continuity via change management and re-prioritization, as well as, working closely with product teams and IT.
Works collaboratively with Information Services and BI Teams to troubleshoot, research, and escalate issues as necessary, proactively keeping end users aware of the status and taking responsibility for ensuring outstanding issues are completed in a timely manner. Filters and cleans data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct problems. Collaborates with BI team to understand and define best practices for analytic solutions and seek recommendations on proposed solutions as needed. Trains end users on new reports and dashboards. Leverages findings and recommendations from Analytics, User Experience, and Development teams. Analyzes the current business environment to detect critical deficiencies and identify improvement opportunities as it relates to business intelligence and analytical work.
Plans and develops processes, reports, and analytic dashboards: Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources in addition to maintaining the datasets used. Identifies opportunities for enhancement, automation and self-service to achieve a higher level of excellence. Supports the data warehouse in identifying and revising reporting requirements. Supports initiatives for data integrity and normalization. Develops and provides requested ad-hoc reports on a prioritized basis. Develops analytic dashboards for business users providing a good user experience and the business analytics needed in a simple, easy to understand format to drive strategic business decisions related to things, such as, operational efficiencies, spending, planning, trends, logistics, and suppliers.
Participates as a member of the Team . Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone/video conference, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures. Move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property. May travel via car or plane to various work locations.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by facility.
Travel: Approximately 25% travel, including travel to Simmons facilities, one to two offsite classes or conferences per year, and to Toronto Office. Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
Technical Experience: 10 years of experience in data analysis and reporting. Experience with ERP tools. Strong preference for previous experience with BI tools and processes. Experience using SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application projects.
Preferred Technical Experience: Snowflake database, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI. Experience with data models, view objects, Fivetran connectors, ODI (Oracle Data Integrator). Code management, github, and data change management. Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC). Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) data models and new objects for reporting. Data Build Tool (DBT) for data transformation.
Industry Experience: Preference for food processing organization.
Minimum Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or 10 years related experience.
Preferred Education : BS in Mathematics, Information Management, or Statistics.
