ADA Section 504 Coordinator (Project Management)

This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Institutional Equity and leads the University efforts to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities.

Duties: 

• Coordinates University policies and procedures relating to persons with disabilities related to facilities and space accommodations.
• Provides compliance oversight by ensuring the University adheres to the ADA and Section 504 regulations.
• Serves as a key point of contact for accessibility questions, space and facilities accommodation requests, and ADA/Section 504 compliance issues.
• Conducts regular audits and assessments of university facilities, sidewalks, doorways and programs.
• Develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures related to physical and space access and accommodations.
• Assists with training and guidance to staff, faculty, and students on disability rights, reasonable accommodations, and accessibility best practices.
• Serves as the primary contact for facilities and space disability-related complaints and concerns and addresses issues promptly and fairly.
• Maintains accurate records of complaints and compliance efforts and completes reports as needed.
• Develops a culture of compliance and continuous improvement by staying current on laws, regulations, and best practices related to space and facilities accommodations.
• Collaborates with various departments to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are provided.
• Recommends improvements to enhance accessibility and compliance in collaboration with the director of the accessibility and disability resource center.
• Monitors and documents ADA/Section 504 compliance initiatives, activities, and outcomes.
• Prepares reports, updates, and recommendations for senior leadership regarding ADA/Section 504 compliance status.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the Institutional Equity Office.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in related field.

• Minimum of 24 months of experience in disability services, compliance, or a related area. Will accept an advanced degree in lieu of the 24 months of experience.

• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
• Effectively communicate policies, procedures, and legal concepts in oral and written formats
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of protected and sensitive data and ensure compliance with HIPAA and FERPA
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ADA and Section 504 regulations and serve as a subject matter expert
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and meet stated deadlines
• Ability to assess and facilitate resolution of complaints about accommodations in accordance with applicable laws
• Ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and deliver against deadlines
• Ability to serve as an internal resource and work collaboratively with a wide array of individuals, groups, and organizations
• Ability to manage projects including setting goals and establishing timeframes for completion of compliance-related tasks
• MS Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Outlook
