Shipping Coordinator (Manufacturing)
JOB SUMMARY and KEY OBJECTIVES:
To prepare records of shipments and bills of lading for LTL/ Contract/ Small package carriers. Prepares records of receipt of incoming material and equipment and posts to open orders of suppliers. Stocks and organizes the factory floor and parts area with materials and components. Responsible for accuracy of shipping documents and verifying receiving receipts with open orders. Monitors and communicates the level of inventory to the local buyer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:
• Prepares bills of lading for each shipment and checks and records all items loaded for shipment.
• Verifies factory drawings and specifications match finished product prior to shipping
• Posts shipments to customer orders and calculates balance yet to be shipped. Upon completion of shipment, closes out orders and forwards document to production planning and accounting departments
• Notifies local buyer when major discrepancies occur, over-shipments or substitutions have been made
• Maintains other shipping records such as goods returned, returnable pallets, dunnage, etc.
• On received goods, checks and counts all items unloaded from trucks or trailers. Checks suppliers' count and reports discrepancies
• Verifies all incoming goods are not damaged and matches packing slip and purchase order descriptions and quantities
• Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage
• May move materials in receiving area and factory with hand truck and forklift
• On off-shifts may load trucks using a forklift truck
• Responsible for preparing the loose parts shipments for the factory
• Assist in monthly and annual physical inventories
• All other duties as assigned
Ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail, excellent attendance, great communication skills and ability to be self directed and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• High school education; and up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
• Office clerical skills.
• Valid state motor vehicle operator's permit for operation of forklift truck
