Apprentice Engineer (Finance)

Job Description Summary

Under the general guidance of the Chief Engineer, maintain and repair the hotel's guest rooms and public areas. Engineers also maintain the equipment that staff members use during each workday. This is an Apprentice Engineer position and will require the Apprentice to have passed the written test and attend two classes per week with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 39.

Job Description

Duties & Functions:

• Ensure all equipment, public areas, and guest rooms are maintained and in a presentable order

• Ensure all maintenance tasks are performed in a timely and professional manner

• Operate and properly maintain various types of electrical mechanical equipment

• Ensure the operation and maintenance on low pressure steam systems

• Perform PM and repairs on split AC units and fan coil units

• Repair machinery and public areas

• Operate BAS

• Work independently as part of our team

• Maintain a clean working shop environment

• Respond to emergency calls and situations

Specific Job Knowledge & Skills:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• V alid FSD (Fire Safety Director) license for a commercial building preferred

• Must understand basic mechanical and electrical principals

• Ability to utilize email and Microsoft Applications

• Three years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel

• Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor

• Ability to multitask, work in a fast paced environment and have a high level attention to detail

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

• Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments

• Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork

Physical Abilities:

• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 150 pounds without assistance

• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity

• Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift

• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping

• Requires manual ability to use, carry, and operate all necessary equipment

Pay Range

Pay Range: $42.08 per hour. Pay rate outlined follows contract requirement.
