Department: Environment Health Safety Salary: 43,000-48,900 Description:
Under minimal supervision, ensure compliance with federal, state, and university environmental, safety, radiological, and hazardous waste disposal regulations. Keep detailed records of all equipment, populate departmental database, and support other EHS discipline-specific areas.
1. Perform tasks as assigned to maintain the university's hazardous waste facility in compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations and standards.
2. Deliver materials for the accumulation of hazardous and biomedical waste; pick up and store containerized biomedical waste from laboratories and clinical areas.
3. Conduct tests and classify campus hazardous waste pick-up for ultimate disposal as directed.
4. Communicate with, monitor, and verify the activities of hazardous waste disposal vendors, sign, and file disposal receipt documentation.
5. Participate in developing and implementing pollution prevention activities.
6. Provide campus support and respond to chemical/waste spills and/or releases.
7. Populate departmental database and generate reports from database.
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.
Requires a minimum of five (5) year of directly job-related experience.
