Chief Flight Instructor Aviation (Project Management)
Dual-hatted as OU Chief Flight Instructor for OU School of Aviation Studies (PACS) Pro Pilot and Avia Mgt - Fly degree concentration and FAA part 141 flight school. Oversees and mentors a cadre of over 25 hourly part time flight instructors as teaching assistants in the flight lab teaching Private, Instrument, Commercial, Multi Engine, Certified Flight Instructor, MEII, as well as Turbine Ground and Flight courses in the Beech King Air. Conducts Faculty and Staff Transport.
Supports the Program Director through the oversight of daily flight operations as well as representing the program interests in executive-level meetings and negotiations. Provides expert advice with programmatic items such as aircraft replacements, flight simulator selection, and overall facility issues to help ensure an outstanding learning environment for OU's students.
“The OU School of Aviation Studies is active in aviation and aerospace research critical to the safety of the National Airspace System. The Chief Flight Instructor serves as a key subject matter expert for university research and oversees the schedule and operations of research flights for aviation, meteorology, and engineering. OU serves as Technical Lead of the FAA's Center of Excellence for Technical Training and Human Performance and academic partner for the FAA's UAS Integration Pilot Program with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Our program supports research flights for weather, advanced radar, air traffic management, situational awareness, performance-based navigation, and safety studies. “
Must meet FAA part 141 flight hour minimums for Chief Flight Instructor:
The Chief Flight instructor position will ensure safe, efficient, and effective flight training that complies with FAA and University policies and procedures. Provide supervision to flight training managers, flight and ground instructor pilots, flight dispatch and scheduling. Monitor and oversee safety of training, quality of training, student service and student progress.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:
Must meet FAA part 141 flight hour minimums for Chief Flight Instructor of Part 141.35(c) and 141.35(d) which consists of:
